Texas Hold'em Poker Hand's | What Beats what?​

For poker players, especially ones that just started, the poker hand ranking can be confusing. They often ask ” does my flush beats the straight or is the straight better? Or “I had three pairs, why did I lose”? They don’t know which hand is stronger than the other and so we decided to put out an article to help you with that question. No more arguments with friends on what beats what.

Poker Hand Rankings | List of possible poker Hands​

Our Poker Hand Chart starts with the strongest hand “Royal Flush” and ends with the weakest hand “High Card”.

1. Royal Flush

The Royal Flush is the strongest possible hand and is made of ten,  jack, queen, king, ace in the same suit (colour).

The probability of hitting a royal flush till the river is around 650.000 : 1

2. Straight Flush

The straight flush consists of five following hand ranks in the same suit.

3. Four Of-A Kind

Four of-a Kind, also called “poker” is made up of four cards of the same rank and one unrelated card.

4. Full House

A Full House is a combination of three cards of the same rank plus a pair.

The probability of making a Full House till the river is arround 700 : 1

5. Flush

A flush is made of five unfollowing cards of the same suit.

6. Straight

The straight consist of five following cards of the same rank.

7. Three Of-A Kind

Three of-a Kind is three cards of the same rank and two unrelated cards.

The probability of hitting three of-a kind till the river is arround 46 : 1

8. Two-Pair

Two seperate matching pairs and one unrelated card.

The probability of hitting a two pair till the river is arround 20 : 1

9. One-Pair

Two cards of the of the same rank that match with 3 unrelated cards.

10. High Card

When you have hit none of the above and your five hands are unrelated.

When you play poker you must know that a poker hand is formed of five of the seven available cards, two cards are discounted in the poker-hand-ranking. Your two hole cards are combined with the best three of five community cards. That means, that if no one has a pair the one with the five highest cards win.
